ANNOYING THINGS AMERICANS DO (Swedish Girlfriend Perspective) 🇸🇪🇺🇸

Hey guys and welcome back to a new YouTube video. Evan has been living in Sweden now for almost a year and a half and he brought a few annoying things with him from America. And i thought it would be fun to share those things with you today. And I have no idea what you’re about to say because I don’t find anything that I do annoying (lol) so this will be interesting to hear to say the least.

Of course he does. But yeah I get a react to what you think is annoying about me and more specifically what you think is annoying about Americans. So… after you let’s hear it.

So the first thing that I find annoying is that Americans think that they are best at everything. And just that you were saying before, how you don’t think you’re doing anything the wrong way. Well you do and I think that American have that mentality, but America isn’t the greatest country. Well, well come on. Let me defend myself here. yeah, I’m not saying that America is the best country on Earth, I just say that no country is better than America, so America is therefore the best country on earth.

I don’t walk around saying America is the best country on earth. -But you do believe the things that you do are correct and the things that other people do are wrong. Okay let me respond to this, I would argue that if you polled most people on earth they would say that they look to America for inspiration… we export a lot of our culture. For example, you go down to the supermarket down here in Sweden, they’re playing American musicians, you go to the theater and they’re playing American movies, a lot of the fashion cultures inspired by New York and Los Angeles, it’s fair to say that America does many things the best in the world.https://www.fastcompany.com/90402207/kfc-colonel-sanders-dating-sim-is-no-popeyes-chicken-sandwich?cid=search I would have to say that yeah and I agree with you in a little bit, but you can’t be best at everything right?

I know we can’t unfortunately be best at everything but, we can try. The second thing that I find annoying with Evan is that he leaves his jacket on inside. That is such a weird thing I can come home from work and he’s sitting on the couch with his laptop, and he’s wearing his jacket on, and I’m like “hello?” -It’s cold -You’re inside! When you come home from work as a girl at least, you take your makeup off, you take your bra, take off the clothes that you’ve been sitting on buses with sitting in meetings with on dirty chairs yada yada and you put on like chill clothes okay. you’re sitting with an outside jacket on inside. -Okay I sometimes don’t take my jacket off because it’s -5 degrees out and I’m still cold!

And I come home so I want to warm up for a little bit and then take the jacket off and that’s then I take my bra off but I always take my shoes off first so that’s why I’m not taking my shoes off, then I take my jacket off after a few minutes of warming up then your bra, and then the bra and then my makeup. Okay so I’m on the right path yeah that’s good that’s good you’re getting there. So the third thing that I find annoying with this man here is that he’s afraid of confrontation… meaning that if we are a restaurant don’t get the food we ordered or something, I don’t know, you’re like “oh it’s fine it’s fine we’ll just eat this we’ll do as well” and I’m like… all right just tell the waiter you didn’t order this you want something else.

Or if for example if you’re allergic to something and you ask without that thing, and then you still get it, you can be like, “I’m sorry this is not what I ordered” you’re like oh they’re gonna get so mad, I can’t do it! -I’ve worked in restaurants before when I was younger, I know that those servers are under a ton of pressure and stress. If I get chicken instead of steak, I don’t care, I’ll just eat it. I’m just happy to eat the meal. It’s not a big deal for me, yeah you’re right, I don’t want to confront the waiter and call them out and then sit around for 20 minutes while they go back to the kitchen and recook my steak.

I’ll just eat the chicken, for me it’s no problem, it’s not that I’m afraid of confrontation, I just like to be polite and I I just don’t want to be rude to people, but if you were really craving steak and then you get a chicken, I would be so disappointed. I would be like. I don’t want to eat chicken right now wanna eat steak. No I mean it’s fair point you have, but to me it’s just like all eat the chicken no worries let’s just whatever. -It’s okay cuz whenever that happens I will tell them instead and you will get your steak. -We know that yeah we know. So the fourth thing that I find annoying with Evan or with the American culture is that they leave their lights on so bright.

Let me continue. I see pictures of dinner parties or people having a cozy meal at home and the lights are just turned on and the lights are just turned on and it looks like you’re in a surgery room having a heart operation and I must also say that in Sweden maybe this has to do with the weather and and like being inside more but we like it cozy. I like to have the lights up so I can see what I’m doing.

It’s already dark enough outside at 3 o’clock in the afternoon I don’t want to come home and sit in the dark again I like to have the lights up. There’s nothing wrong with that. What’s annoying for me is that you like to sit in the dark. -It’s not dark I mean if you’re sitting in a restaurant it’s gonna be dark I like it to be moderately dim I don’t like it dark where I’m like “I thought I had chicken now I’m eating steak” That’s why they always mess up the order, because they can’t see what they’re writing on the paper! The cooks can’t see what they’re cooking in the kitchen!

Yeah it’s because it’s so dark every I mean it like I said it’s only it’s 2:30 right now it’s like the sun setting, so when I come home I want to get some sort of brightness. Well we don’t want to sit in and eat in complete brightness like that is not cozy at all. I always call it the operation room. There’s like six lights behind strung from the ceiling, I like those things cranked up to a hundred percent. So the fifth thing that I find annoying is that Evan always wipes the kitchen counter with a paper towel. -What’s wrong with that? -First of all it’s very bad for the environment to use so much paper. In Sweden we have a thing called wettex, it’s like a cleaning cloth sort of but it’s like a little bit thicker than the one you clean like the toilet with, it’s like a little bit thicker, we can maybe add a picture here and you just get that wet and then you can wipe the whole counter off.

That thing is crawling with bacteria, because you just wipe down the counter and multiple times with the same thing without watching it and you’re not cleaning the counter you’re just spreading all the bacteria around. – No because you use a spray. -That’s why I use paper towels is because you put them in the bin after and then you’re getting refresh one every time mm-hmm Ah I got you, you have no response to that. -I do because I clean the clothes like -One a month? -No two times a week! That’s still 2 weeks of accumulated bacteria on that thing. No not two weeks, I change this up to two times a week. Two times a week? yes I changed those like every four days or something. You see that yes there’s always a new color.

Well I’m colorblind so I can’t yeah. That’s why. the six and final thing… I don’t agree with any of these things so this is basically like the first one. but go on okay the sixth and final thing that I find annoying, but I do love you, is the American mentality that you don’t have to do anything yourself. So for example we were changing our sheets in the bedroom and we ran into some problems because the duvet cover is really big and we couldn’t find like the edges, or it was just like a big mess. And then Evan just lost it completely he’s like throws the bedding.

I was like I’m not doing this anymore, I’m done, I’m gonna hire someone to do this for me, And I’m like alright I mean this takes five minutes. Sure we’re ran into a little bit of an issue right now, but we don’t need someone to change it for us, it takes us five minutes, we’re two adults we can do this ourselves. You’re like “no I’m gonna pay someone to do this for me.” Okay first of all I don’t recall that specific incident, but second of all second of all it makes sense to pay someone for tasks like that because that’s time wasted changing sheets, time wasted taking the trash out, all these different things you can pay someone to do that for you. Hear me out on this. Your time is worth a certain amount of money.

If you have an hourly job, let’s just say you make $50 an hour, your time is worth $50 an hour. So if I have to suddenly spend many hours of the day changing sheets taking out the trash, cleaning the house, mopping the floor, yada yada, that’s time that I could spend working in generating more income, so therefore if you can pay someone less than $50 an hour to do those tasks, then it makes sense to pay that person because you’re gonna be net positive on your income, so if I can work for an hour and make $50 and I can pay someone to do my cleaning for $20 I’m still pocketing $30. Yeah yeah I know I I totally agree, and it makes sense, but you and I have a monthly salary, so even if I work 100 month or two million hours a month, I’m still gonna make the same money.

Yes but if you can dedicate more time to your job, you can have better performance and hopefully be recognized for that better performance. Here’s another example: people always say that people with maids or nannies are entitled and they’re lazy. That’s not the case at all, usually those people are such high income earners, that it just makes sense for them to hire someone to do tasks that would otherwise take at their time.

And I agree with you. I mean eventually we will get someone to do it for us but we’re for now it’s fine. Now I change the duvet even though it’s a nightmare. But I don’t recall that incident.

But yeah you can see my point hopefully. Yeah and that’s why like you always think it’s strange people in LA I have like maids or they pay people to pick up their kids or whatever but it just it just makes sense because it’s time lost and it’s time wasted and it’s money that you could be earning. Well that’s another topic okay. We’ll save that for because some people yeah I mean don’t hang out with the kids because they’re just too focused on work and don’t care about their kids and that’s why nannies pick them up but that’s another topic

That’s why. the six and final thing…

I don’t agree with any of these things so this is basically like the first one. but go on okay the sixth and final thing that I find annoying, but I do love you, is the American mentality that you don’t have to do anything yourself.
